The Adelphi
3–5 Hunslet Road, Leeds LS10 1JQ
A drink in the wonderfully fancy Adelphi is a step back into the Victorian age, with four separate snug bars resplendent with carved wood, decorated tilework, swagged velvet drapes and etched glass. Drinks and food are thoroughly up to date, though, with a changing roster of indie brewery ales and on-tap beers for hipsters, from Kirin and Sierra Nevada to local Leeds Brewery tipples. As for food, it’s very definitely ‘new Leeds’: bar snacks include salt-and-pepper squid, and tempura chicken; and there’s a seasonally changing gastro-pub menu – including treats such as Gloucester Old Spot sausages, pork belly, and crab cakes – that’s available all day and night.
