This end of the harbour is under the thumb of the stylish Marine Hotel, which has its own bar and restaurant on the premises as well as the informal Moon & Sixpence brasserie just down the way. Here, the style is cruise liner chic, with a piano bar-cum-restaurant that makes great use of big windows that face on to the harbour. Jazz and mellow sounds tinkle away – some weekends the baby grand is given an airing – while for food we're talking about things like oysters, crab claws with a chilli dip, roasted sea bass or shellfish linguine. A great range of breakfasts is served until noon too (full monty, eggs florentine, kedgeree, Whitby kippers etc), making this a brunch place par excellence.
