Walk the Forth Road Bridge
Forth Road Bridge South Queensferry EH30 9SF
The Forth Road Bridge was Europe's longest suspension bridge when it first opened in 1964. It may only be 2.5km long, but the views that it opens up are stunning, taking in swathes of Fife and the Lothians. Then, of course, you can see the world-famous cantilevered Forth – railway – Bridge just across the water to the east, and to the west a new Forth crossing taking shape. At least one walking lane is usually open, with train and bus connections on both sides and down in North and South Queensferry too. South Queensferry has plenty of bars and restaurants if you want to make a day of it. Not a bad free day out.
