You come to 21212 for the seriously inventive food at Paul Kitching’s Michelin-starred restaurant – a city fixture for over a decade – but there’s no need to leave because the two upper levels of the Georgian terrace building have four beautiful guest rooms (stair access only, no lift). There are views over private gardens to the rear and all the way to the Firth of Forth to the front, and you’re just a short walk into the centre – about twenty minutes to the Princes Street Gardens, for example.
There’s an elegant, understated style in the rooms, with a calm, urban palette throughout, large beds, and fabulous bathrooms with thick towels, bathrobes and fancy toiletries. There’s fresh tea and coffee available, complimentary sloe gin in the rooms, and nothing too much trouble. You’re in safe hands for breakfast too, as you might expect, and will be able to set out for the day fully fed and raring to go. Just make sure you’ve booked ahead for dinner, because it’s one of Scotland’s hottest dining destinations.
