The Georgian Villa – Bromsash House – looks across the Wye Valley towards the Brecon Beacons, with the Forest of Dean just a couple of miles away. It’s a spectacular spot for a rather remarkable house, and ideal for a week or weekend away with family or a group of pals. Unsurprisingly, the exterior is Georgian: grand, elegant, cream-coloured and symmetrical, sitting in well-kept landscaped gardens. But then you step inside, and the vibe is comfortable opulence across spacious rooms. Sleeping up to 12, with options for an additional six guests in the adjacent Coach House, this is just the place to get together with a bunch of your favourite people in one of the loveliest parts of the UK.

The tone is set as you walk through the door – think statement chandeliers, an array of artwork, antiques and objets d’art at every turn. Georgian features are at the heart, but you'll spot a mix of cleverly put-together styles, including Bohemian flourishes. But this wonderful place is no museum: it’s there to enjoy and relax in, with turquoise sofas in the peacock-themed drawing room and the Chesterfield in the lounge as comfortable as they are stylish. There’s also a grandiose dining room with a table seating 18 and a fully equipped kitchen.

Upstairs, you'll discover five bedrooms and four bathrooms which are no less sumptuous than the floor below, including a super-king with an en-suite complete with a bath, separate shower and his-and-hers sinks. Another has a roll-top under a bay window, where you can admire the countryside views from while soaking; all have a TV. The house is designed for 12 – but keep in mind, one of the rooms has twin bunk beds sleeping up to four. For anyone else, the Coach House next door has three king-size bedrooms you can hire in addition to the main house – so up to 18 guests in total.

The house is certainly impressive, but it’s outside that may wow you the most. Admire the bucolic vistas from the architraved windows and French doors, or head onto the terrace where there’s a five-person hot tub to dip in – on clear evenings, you can spot the Milky Way. In the garden, there's also seating and alfresco dining options (including a BBQ), and a couple of acres to enjoy. Keen to walk further? Make your way to The Alma for a meal – one of several good watering holes nearby. Plus, you're only three miles from the market town of Ross-on-Wye, 1.5 from the Forest of Dean, and a stone's throw from the nearest golf course and fishing lake. Oh, and it's also worth remembering the owners offer glamping, if that's more your bag.

Can we bring our pets to the property?

Dogs are allowed with an additional charge £75 per stay per pet up to 3 maximum.

However some large breeds are not suitable for the property - please contact Dominic ahead of booking if concerned, usually maximum of around 20kg.

Please do not allow pets upstairs and kindly, remember to clean up after them.

Is there space for us to park our car?

Up to 8 vehicles can park on the property very easily.

What are the rules for the hot tub?

Please shower before using the hot tub!

Instructions for use are within the House Manual provided.

Can we use the property for our party?

Yes of course, we love hosting birthday parties, wedding parties and hen do’s - however, we’ve had some negative experience with Stag parties and so we no longer allow them, apologies.

Since we’re located in a quiet area, sound carries very clearly across the countryside - we’d like to avoid noise complaints from neighbours and so we ask our guests to keep the noise inside after 10.30pm, thank you.

Specifically Glitter and Glitter balloons are a big no no.

Also, we’ve had numerous issues with real candles so we provide electronic candles, please do not bring additional real candles.

How do we use the fireplace?

Please make sure fire guards are placed at all times! This is extremely important for your safety.

Do not make fires in the fireplaces anywhere apart from the two living rooms as the other chimneys are blocked and it would cause a housefire.

Please allow the fires to die down naturally before you start heading to bed.

This is a major fire safety issue and if you have any concerns please ask Dominic upon booking for full fire safety instructions.

Nearby

The Wye Valley AONB starts at the bottom of our hill and is great for canoeing, wild swimming, fishing walking and cycling. There are many beautiful riverside pubs like Ye Olde Ferry Inn nearby. The Forest of Dean is two miles from the site and is fantastic for walking, climbing, horse riding, cycling, mountain biking and there is a Go Ape park. The South Herefordshire golf course is 100 yards down the road and there is also a beautiful fishing lake just beyond one of our fields. The Forest of Dean is 2 miles down the road. A must-visit is Puzzlewood where Star Wars was filmed as well as Merlin and Dr. Who.

Food & Drink

The Alma Inn is just over a mile from our site. It is our favourite pub and also happens to be the 2021 CAMRA Herefordshire pub of the year. The Moody Cow Restaurant is also about a mile away and is Michelin-rated. We are lucky to be surrounded by great places to eat and drink: The Penny Farthing, The LoughPool and The Glasshouse Inn being lovely and of course, Ross-on-Wye is only three miles away and is full of great places to eat and drink. All food delivery services can be delivered to the site.

Getting There

From Gloucester or the M5, head towards Ross-on-Wye on the A40 for about 15 miles then turn right, signposted for Upton Bishop and Bromsash. After passing through Bromsash, the Georgian Villa is on the left 200 metres past Castrees Plant Nursery. Satellite navigation for The Georgian Villa's postcode (HR9 7PL) will take you to Castrees Plant Nurseries. Please do not ask for directions there. With the nursery on your left, drive a further 200 metres along the road to find The Georgian Villa. If using What3Words the unique address is: decimals.glow.result

There's no public transport to the site. The nearest railway station is Gloucester, 15 miles away, and you have to take a taxi from there.

We recently stayed at this beautiful house and had a fantastic time. It was the perfect setting for our family, especially for the kids. The hosts were incredible with their communication. The house itself was spacious and well-designed, featuring two huge living rooms that provided ample space for everyone to relax. The kitchen and dining room were equally impressive, allowing us to prepare and enjoy meals comfortably. We particularly appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, which had everything we needed for cooking, including a BBQ. One of the highlights for the kids was the wonderful outdoor space. They spent most of their days outside, having a blast on the trampoline. The outdoor area was a true gem. To top it all off, the hosts surprised us with a delicious cake, which was a delightful treat enjoyed by everyone. It was such a thoughtful gesture that added a special touch to our stay. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend this house to others.

What a stunning venue! The photos on here are lovely, but the Georgian Villa is even better in person. Every room is beautifully and luxuriously done — full of personality and charm. We loved the colourful decor and quirky touches. The house is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We were a party of 11 and it was the perfect place to host a murder mystery game and dinner. Hosts were very communicative and lovely on the phone.

Gem of a place

For Our family Christmas We wanted something a little extra special and The Georgian Villa was everything and more! A stunning house in the beautiful countryside with amazing views! We had such a memorable time! We arrived to find the house was beautifully decorated with a huge Christmas tree in the hallway, such a grand entrance! The whole house looked wonderfully festive and the Welcome drinks & goodies was a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. The house was beautifully clean, had plenty of space & a great layout. We enjoyed dinners in the grand dining room & loved playing games/piano around the open fires in the lounges & enjoying the hot tub in the evenings. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen & utility were very well equipped, it had everything we needed to make our Christmas stay perfect! We could go on and on how much we all loved the house, we did not want to leave! Dom & Helena were so friendly & helpful and very accommodating of all our requests. Everything was perfect

Firstly, where do I start from.... One of the best hosts I have ever come across, so much care and love. As soon as I booked the most beautiful accommodation, Helen was so welcoming me to any questions or concerns that I had. As soon as we got there, I was taken back how beautiful the place was. Every single room had its own theme and outstanding decorations. Helena welcomes us with freshly baked cake, which was absolutely delicious and loads for goodies like a box of chocolates, a bottle of bubbles, etc. The accommodation was absolutely spotless with fresh towels and dressing gowns. For the hot tub, fresh towels were left for us. Everything was perfect. We were so comfortable with everything that they made our life so much easier by leaving us a guide booked with all the information. Thank you so much for your great hospitality.
