Found on the fringes of the Malvern Hills in rural Worcestershire, Up Sticks is just about as good as it gets for a family glamping getaway. Nestled in a 17-acre rural patchwork of meadows and natural ponds there are three large safari tents, each sleeping six in a double and two twins, one of which you'll find up on a mezzanine loft. Each tent has a comfortable living area with wood burner and a fully equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Outside it's just a few steps down a raised boardwalk to your private bathroom and each lodge comes with a wood-fired hot tub and fire pit for evenings out under the stars. As the sun goes down the twinkle of the fairy lights that thread around the safari tents and walkways gives the site an almost other worldly feel.

“Home comforts with the great outdoors right on your doorstep”, is how the owner, Charlotte, succinctly describes her family-run site. “No rushing to the supermarket or squeezing in towels and bedding. Everything is here”. That couldn't be more true; fluffy towels are ready in your bathroom, there’s a breakfast pack provided for your first morning and cool white wine awaits you in the fridge. They love dogs and offer a ‘dog stay pack’ which includes a crate, bowls and tether, plus there are wash-down facilities for bikes, boots and dogs after a walk. The farm pantry sells everything from local beer and homemade cakes to olives and sausages. There are bikes available to rent and a family-friendly pub right next door, making you quickly realise there’s not a thing that you could possibly want for. The lodges are available individually but there's also the option to have exclusive use of all three, which also gives you access to 'The Shack', Up Sticks' hangout space which is perfect for communal dining. They also offer crafting kits, scavenger hunts for kids, ping pong table, coconut shy and wellie wanging and during summer periods offer workshops such as screen printing, sewing, foraging and more.

When you do break the spell and head out to explore, the footpaths and mountain biking trails of the Malvern Hills – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – are the most obvious place to start. The rivers Severn and Wye await for paddling downstream or a quiet picnic. Not that you need to leave the site to get close to nature. You can help chop wood for the campfire, use the bug kits in your safari lodge to hunt for miniature wildlife in the pond or pet the rare breed sheep and pygmy goats, collect eggs from the hens, and tend your own little vegetable patch by the lodge.
