Between the mountains of Snowdonia and the beaches of the North Wales coast, Wern Manor offers self-catering on an impressive scale. It’s a Victorian manor house, built in Jacobethan style, and stands in 15 acres with views of Snowdon’s foothills. Book it and you and your extended family or group of friends can comfortably enjoy time together in a fascinating historic property with plenty of options for days out nearby. There’s a lovely sandy beach just two miles away; the same distance as the delightful harbour town of Porthmadog and the edge of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. Criccieth, Portmeirion and the Llŷn Peninsula are just a little further away, but all within 10 miles.

Even if it wasn’t in such a good location, Wern Manor would be a great place to stay. The main house sleeps up to 14 and an optional two cottages are available for larger groups. Whoever you come with, there’s enough to keep everyone entertained. Its grand social spaces start at the manor’s carved front door. You enter into a panelled hall that gives way to a sitting room with a snooker table and Chesterfields around a log-burning stove. There’s an atrium and a drawing room that’s got cinema seating and a big screen, table tennis and a pool table, too.

Beyond the big rooms once used by the gentry, you’ll discover that although the holiday let is all on the ground floor, there’s a kind of upstairs-downstairs appeal. The dining room is in the old kitchen; the kitchen in the former scullery. The sleeping accommodation is in the old servants' wing. Glossy, glazed brickwork lines the corridors, there’s plenty of parquet flooring, and a decorative fireplace in virtually every room. The retained character features are incredibly pleasing, but the standard of accommodation has been elevated from Victorian times. Comfy king-size or double beds and en-suite bathrooms for all of the five double bedrooms see to that. In addition to the double rooms, the former Servants’ Hall can be used as a playroom-cum-bedroom for up to four children.

The optional additional cottages are the two-bedroomed Butler’s House, sleeping four, and the three-bedroomed Bothy, sleeping up to five. These are attached to the manor house but are also self-contained, meaning there’s always room for groups to spread out. And beyond the stone walls of this impressive Grade II-listed building are its equally impressive gardens. There are lawns, a stream, a pond and a wild woodland all available for you to wander, walk the dog (they are welcome here), or perhaps, play croquet.

100% recommend for families, group of friends and special occasions

What can I say - I had the most wonderful time in this beautiful manor steeped in history! The building houses multiple games rooms, lounge areas, a spacious dining room and kitchen. Come rain or shine you're sorted with pool tables, snooker tables, ping pong tables and more. The bedrooms were large but also cosy and I've honestly never had a better night's sleep! The location was idyllic - short drives away from the beach or stunning walks over the hills. You're also super close to amenities such as Lidl or Tesco which makes refueling easy. The amount of love, care and interior flare that have gone into the renovations of the manor is impressive and I don't think I'll stay in a more beautiful, character filled building again. I'd 100% recommend this for families, group of friends and for special occasions. Thanks so much for having us stay and we'll be back again soon!

Pure magic

Our stay at Wern Manor was pure magic. I visited with a group of friends, and from the moment we arrived, we were completely enchanted by the property and surroundings. The grounds were so fun to explore, surrounded by the beautiful North Wales mountains. Inside, the manor was just as impressive. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything we needed, making it easy to enjoy big meals together. The impressive dining room was the cherry on top. What makes Wern stand out is the many spaces to enjoy. Relaxing in the snug, playing in the snooker room, turning the table tennis room into a dance floor in the evening etc. To top it all off, the location was perfect or exploring the North Wales countryside and mountain walks. Wern Manor is a gem, and we couldn't recommend enough!

Expectations were far exceeded

I was part of a group of 18 celebrating New Year's at Wern Manor—what a special place! I think I can speak for the whole group when I say our expectations were far exceeded. Loads of space, fantastic facilities, an extremely well-equipped kitchen, and of course STUNNING building and grounds. Pictures don't do it justice. Marie-Ann and Paul have managed to transform this glorious manor into something cosy and comfortable, while retaining all its grandeur. We will definitely be returning!! 💚

The Manor was just breathtaking...

We stayed for a week, Aug 2024, as a family group of 18 (ages 6 - 67). What can we say? It was perfect. The Manor was just breathtaking, in a fantastic location with brilliant facilities and grounds. Our hosts were so lovely and helpful with a warm welcome on our arrival. We have all said we will never be able to find a better place to stay as a group and hope to return again in the future.
