Lockside
1 Brunel Lock Road, Bristol BS1 6XS
Brunch at Lockside is a little Bristol secret: this former transport café under a flyover in the far reaches of south Bristol isn’t where you’d expect to find Bristol’s best brunch, but that makes it even more special. There has been a restaurant here since 1963 – the place was even used as Sid’s Cafe in Only Fools & Horses, which was filmed in the city – but these days it’s a light, relaxed and welcoming café in which you can enjoy the likes of avocado and beef tomato on tiger bread, a classic fry up, or smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce and bubble and squeak – in short, well-presented, generous comfort food at pretty decent prices. Well worth seeking out.
