It hardly needs any introduction, and if you’re in the area a visit to the Eden Project is a must. The sight of the massive biomes as you approach the site is awesome. The two indoor biomes – Rainforest and Mediterranean – are fascinating, although the rainforest is the more spectacular of the two. There’s plenty going on in the ‘outdoor biome’ too, with 13 hectares of garden containing almost 2000 plant species. The huge shop sells all sorts of gifts, books and plants, and there’s a good choice of cafés selling decent food. Plenty to keep kids amused, plus regular events during school holidays. Check out the Eden Sessions, too: an annual series of concerts featuring world-class musicians.
