The most enjoyable way to explore the beautiful estuary and its wildlife is to hire a kayak or canoe and paddle away from the crowds. Independent hire is available by the hour, day or half day, but you do need to have kayak experience. The guided expeditions are excellent value and great fun too, especially for families – a group trip with a leader and safety boat, stopping on the way to see places of interest and enjoy the wildlife, with a visit to the Fisherman’s Arms in Golant for lunch. Trips last around five hours: phone to check times and dates, as these vary with the tides.
