Readymoney Cove
Fowey, Cornwall, PL23 1DD
Fowey’s closest beach, easy to access via footpath from town, is lovely and sandy with a few rock pools to explore, but can be almost covered during high spring tides. St Catherine’s Castle sits on the hill to the South, while the house where Daphne du Maurier lived during the Second World War lies on the other side. Despite the evocative nature of the word cove - a hideaway, sheltered from the world - this spot can a little crowded during the summer, partly because its so close to town, but also because its a safe place to bathe and its worth a visit simply to swim in such a picturesque spot. Only a small beach with no dogs from Easter to September.
