Ye Olde George Inn
2a Castle Street Dorset Christchurch BH23 1BT
Christchurch's oldest pub is also the flagship watering-hole of the nearby Piddle brewery, so as you'd expect this is the place to go for cask beers as well as ciders. In summer, most people head for the tables in the surprisingly spacious internal courtyard, draped in coloured flags and shaded by ancient trees. Inside it's all nooks and little snug rooms that typify a pub that's around 600 years old. The pub is also big on food, with giant Sunday roasts and other pub favourites such as steak pies. You can either in the main pub or in the Sophie Dawes Bar and Parlour at the back of the courtyard.
