Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
Dungeness Road Lydd Kent TN29 9NB
‘The world’s smallest public railway’ runs for thirteen and a half miles up and down the coast from Dungeness to Hythe, pulled by miniature locomotives and steam engines. It’s a delight for kids and fun, too, for grown-ups, with gin and tonic served in the bar to help while away the hour’s journey, through dunes and edging back gardens – including, close to the Dungeness terminal, Derek Jarman’s Garden and wooden house. There’s a café, kids’ playground and model railway at New Romney station, midway; and a fish and chip shop at Dungeness station.
