Even if country farmer's markets aren't usually your cup of tea, it's worth noting Stroud's offers a lively setting, and if you're in the vicinity on a Saturday morning, you'd be mad to miss one of the country's best. As well as the usual offerings of good quality local food, there's entertainment – buskers and other musical offerings – hot food from across the globe, and all manner of must-have crafty stuff. There are around 85 stalls in all, a good 10 percent of which are organic, and although there is a stalwart weekly attendance, each week you'll find different people selling their wares, so it's a good place to visit more than once. Warning: parking can be a stressful affair as this is a popular event. Allow plenty of time to find a spot and expect to walk a little bit.
