Wilverley Inclosure
Burley Road, Sway Hampshire SO41
This two-mile round walk – or easy cycle – takes you through the heart of one of the New Forest's attractive Inclosures – areas that are fenced for timber growing, and packed with beautiful trees and wildlife. Start at the Wilverley Inclosure car park and head straight on through the gate. Take the left hand fork and the wide path heads downhill. Keep on this main path, ignoring the small paths off it. Eventually the path splits - take the right fork where a post has a green and yellow marking and the cycle route W49 arrowed. You'll soon head steeply downhill by a little stream and then steeply uphill again. Head straight on and you'll come out by the car park again, with the wide open spaces of Wilverley Plain on your left. This was an area that was cultivated for vegetables during the Second World War, but is now grazed by ponies. If you have a dog, head left and you'll find an 'Activity Trail' – an obstacle course for dogs.
