The Cider Pantry
Pound Lane Burley Hampshire BH24 4ED
Just outside Burley, this café is a little rural idyll. Park in the yard and walk past the pigs, cider presses and wandering geese to a cosy interior, half with a warming winter fire and half with extensive seating at the back. The menu features cream teas, cakes and a range of tasty lunchtime options including giant toasties – the cider-laced Welsh rarebit is recommended – and superb salads with local hams and cheeses. The Cider Pantry also has a range of teas, but don't miss it's homemade apple juices, or a visit to the shop inside a former cowshed. Along with some alluring apple brandies, you can buy preserves and chutneys, and sup homemade cider straight from the barrel (there are seats in another cowshed opposite, filled with some fine retro fittings including a vintage van). Check out the website for events too, with occasional tasting sessions and the autumn Steam Pressing weekend.
