The Parrot
3–9 Church Lane St Radigunds Canterbury CT1 2AG
Housed in one of Canterbury's oldest buildings – the former St Radigund’s Hall, built around 1370 on Roman foundations – the Parrot is a wonderfully atmospheric pub, full of beams and original 14th- and 15-century features. It has been licensed to sell ale for almost 300 years, and if a recent makeover has rendered it a bit twee, it at least ensures excellent beer. There’s a garden out back, and upstairs is a restaurant serving gastro-tinged pub grub favourites – upmarket burgers, mussels, steak and ale pie, sizzlers and the like.
