Just the latest in a line of unique and rather wonderful wooden creations at this Kent luxury glamping site, situated midway between Canterbury and Whitstable, The Hobbity Treehouse takes cabin-living to the next level. It's part of a small group of treehouses and log cabins in the small village of Blean, and if you've ever wanted to escape to the country and stay somewhere completely different, while sacrificing none of the comforts of home, then this might just be the place for you. It's also just an hour's drive from London so is perfect for a convenient yet romantic stay for two with a difference!
Tucked away down a woodland path (one which leads eventually to the the popular Crab & Winkle Way between Canterbury and Whitstable), The Hobbity Treehouse delivers pretty much everything you would expect from its name. With its creaky wooden walls and cute toadstool stools, you certainly wouldn't be amazed to find a hobbit living here, although it would be a very lucky one who was used to a high standard of amenities, with underfloor heating and a hot tub among them. Blending perfectly with its leafy surroundings, the cabin consists of a ground-floor living space with a seating area and a kitchenette with a hob, microwave and fridge, and an upper level with a good-sized sleeping area with glass walls and glass ceilings and a king-size bed, slipper bath, sink and loo. There’s also another large seating area outside, with a firepit and that oh-so-tempting hot tub. A wood-burning stove provides a cosy touch and there's a hob to make tea or coffee or do some basic cooking. – there's all the equipment you need plus you get a welcome pack with breakfast goodies, milk and a bottle of prosecco in the under-counter fridge-freezer. Towelling robes and slippers are also provided, so you can turn up and get comfy just as soon as you like.
There's no TV and the WiFi isn't great. but that's not really the point here – this is a place to chill out with your loved one, not watch Coronation Street!, and there are lots of good walks nearby in Blean Woods, along the Crab and Winkle to Whitstable or in nearby Druidstone Park. There's a decent pub a five-minute walk away and of course both Canterbury or Whitstable have plenty of good pubs and restaurants. Other accommodation on the same site includes The Enchanted Faraway Tree, the Treehouse Hideaway and Honey Tree Lodge but you'll barely notice anyone else is here.
