A swish English tea room in the heart of Canterbury, with palm-court style decor and occasional live piano music. As well as cream teas and traditional afternoon tea – with a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes – they serve breakfast and light lunches. Its a nice place to rest your feet after a day of poking around the old city haunts. Try the "plump pilgrim", a large scone/teacake, sweetened with candied citrus fruits and currants and delicious served warm with melting butter. If you fancy a tipple, they also serve wine including some from the chalky Kent slopes nearby.
