Canterbury Roman Museum
11a Butchery Lane Canterbury CT1 2JR
Built underground at the level of the ancient Roman town, the museum is based around part of a Roman villa discovered in building work after World War II. You see only a relatively small part of what was once a substantial Roman house – a mosaic-paved corridor, part of a courtyard, and the foundations of a room with under-floor heating. There are also displays of Roman glass and pottery found locally, as well as various interactive educational exhibits along with a few special events that run each year.
