Westgate Gardens
Westgate Canterbury CT1 2BQ
Westgate Gardens offer a pleasant riverside walk with some magnificent formal gardens and floral displays, as well as plenty of picnic spots and ducks waiting to be fed. They take their name from the West Gate, the only surviving gate in the city and one of the finest medieval gates in the country, which now sits isolated (and closed) in the midst of the traffic, with buses squeezing through with inches to spare. Originally Roman, the current structure dates from the 1370s.
