The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge
18 High Street Canterbury CT1 2RA
Standing sturdy in the middle of the high street, this recently modernised museum is delightfully traditional in spirit, with antiquities, natural history exhibits and a number of curiosities including a tiny mummified cat. Perhaps best of all is the room of paintings, many of them created by local artists. Special exhibitions feature big-name artists, and there are regular community events and activities. A new library space has recently been finished which also runs reading activities on a weekly basis.
