Pearson’s Arms
Horsebridge Rd Whitstable CT5 1BT
This seafront pub is an airy, modern, light-filled space with a mixture of squishy sofas and school-style wooden chairs – a very pleasant place for a drink and an upmarket bar snack. Upstairs is an ambitious restaurant with acclaimed Kentish chef Richard Phillips at the helm. The relaxed, gastropub menu uses local produce to great effect, changing daily according to what is good and seasonal. The local salt-marsh lamb, however it is served, is always good, as is the roast local venison and any of the fish dishes. Bag a view by the window for the sea views, and reserve in the evening.
