One of the very few Whitstable pubs not run by Kentish brewery Shepherd Neame, this place is all about beer. A proud recipient of CAMRA’s Kent Pub of the Year award – an award that was all down to the quality and variety of its lagers and well-kept ales, because you wouldn’t want to go for the decor – it’s open all day, and almost always has a decent crowd of locals. Simple food is served (though this is most definitely a pub, with no gastro pretensions), and there’s occasional live music. Simplicity is the word, but for a good drink a lot of options this is the place to go to quench your thirst.
