Walk from St Ives to Zennor
Source of inspiration to DH Lawrence, and the home of a legendary mermaid, Zennor is a tiny hamlet wedged between rugged tors and Atlantic shores. Hop on the bus (300) from St Ives and arrive in time for lunch at Zennor’s Tinners Arms then follow the gorse-topped cliffs and boulder-strewn moorland back along a six-mile-stretch of dramatic – and at times challenging – coastline that eventually meets Porthmeor Beach. If you don’t stop too often to capture every inch of jaw-dropping scenery with your camera, with any luck you’ll be back in time for afternoon tea at the Tate. Or you can do a circular route by taking the inland route back to St Ives – a walk of around 12 miles in all. One of The Outdoor Guide's Top 100 Walks, and quite right too.
