Minicine
Armley Mills, Canal Road, Armley, Leeds LS12 2QF
One of Northern England’s smallest cinemas – just 26 seats! – is perhaps its most curious: a recreated Edwardian picture palace located inside Armley Mills industrial museum. It’s a community cinema, with worthy aims – ‘dedicated to subversive and thought-provoking cinema from all around the world’ – and has monthly art-house or avant-garde screenings preceded by a short film, often locally produced. And if that’s not enough, there’s homemade cake. The cinema, incidentally, is always open for a look when Armley Mills is open, and the museum shows its own programme of films there too.
