The best way to get inside the city centre’s iconic landmark building is to take in a concert – it’s a terrific venue to catch prominent ensembles like the Hallé orchestra or the BBC Philharmonic, but there’s a real breadth to the programming here, from classical to folk, chamber music to brass bands, stand-up comedy to veteran rock heroes. Film’s a big deal too, with the Town Hall giant screen the regular backdrop for film festival events, classic movies and other shows.
