Celebrating the start of the oyster dredging season, in one of the last traditional oyster fisheries still working with sail and oar, the Falmouth Oyster Festival is an extravaganza of the area’s finest seafood. Each year, a celebrity chef, opens the show with a cookery master-class and book signing, before every local chef and sea-food specialist lines the streets to offer the best fare. Oysters, champagne and Guinness are the order of the day, alongside cookery demonstrations, street parades, live music and stalls crammed with the best local Cornish produce. It’s a great time to visit Falmouth.
