Well situated high on a hill on the edge of central Falmouth, this hotel has been around for a while and its recent re-furbishment has catapulted it up in the ranks of places to stay in Falmouth, and we reckon it's now one of the best - and best-value - places in town. Formerly the Green Lawns guest house, it was bought a couple of years ago by Nick and Sioned Parry-Rudlin and they have developed not only as a stunningly-designed boutique hotel in its own right, but also one that is aiming to attract non-residents too, with a restaurant that is already garnering some praise and opulent one-day spa packages.
An Edwardian building at heart, it also has a newer wing, and its 39 rooms are split between the two: they vary from 'Cosy' to more modern 'Comfy' rooms in the new extension and the high-end the Master bedrooms in both buildings, which are larger and come with robes, private balconies and king-size beds. All come with free wifi, flatscreen TVs, a welcome tray and luxury toiletries. Five of the rooms here are dog-friendly, so be sure to book one of them in good time.
There's also a gym, spa and a heated indoor pool. The sub-tropical garden is lovely for a stroll before the short walk down into town and to let the pup stretch their legs – though, as we said, if you can't tear yourself away, the Rastella restaurant is fantastic and the most decorated restaurant in town. Your furry-friend will have to enjoy the comfort of your room if you’d like to dine here, or use the bar. There's also a bar menu that will entice you to hang out that little bit longer in the very comfortable lounge. They serve lovely cream teas, steak sandwiches and sharing boards of cheese and charcuterie. A welcoming home-from-home in a very happening part of Cornwall.
