If you pay a visit to the excellent farm shop at Trevaskis, be prepared to squander much more of your day than planned at this family farm. In fact, save filling your wicker basket with home-baked bread, just-picked veg, farm-reared meats, fresh catch and all manner of Cornish food and drink, until the end of your visit. For there is far more to do here than shop. Whether or not you've got a family in tow, you can't resist a trip to see the Lop pigs, curly-haired cows and Dartmoor sheep, then there's the pick-your-own fruit and vegetables (strawberries, raspberries, plums, apples, peas, sweetcorn...). And don't even think of leaving before a pit-stop or full-blown meal at the Farmhouse Kitchen Restaurant, for this is no ordinary farm shop café but a legendary foodie institution. Waist-stretching portions of tasty, local fare are served from breakfast through to dinner (Sunday roasts get booked up weeks in advance), but it's the vast array of home-baked cakes that has long attracted sweet-toothed foodies from far and wide.
