Cartmel’s village shop on the square is full of artisan-made goodies, deli items and gourmet foods, though it’s most famous for its sticky toffee pudding – a true Lake District speciality, sold on from here to upscale outlets like Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Masons. Putting together a picnic at the shop is a breeze, or head upstairs to the café to enjoy your sticky toffee pudding with a nice view of the village square. Coincide with the Cartmel Food Market (third Friday of the month), held just outside, and you’re in for a full foodie treat.
