Part of the extensive Beaulieu estate, the village of Beaulieu seems to have escaped many of the excesses of the last century, and that’s part of its charm – it’s a highly picturesque museum piece of a village where donkeys and ponies wander down its quaint high street, graced with traditional shops, an inn, teashop and deli. The village sits at the head of the Beaulieu River, and one of the best local walks is the 3km amble down to neighbouring Buckler’s Hard.
