Bure River Cottage Restaurant
27 Lower St Horning NR12 8AA
Horning has any number of places if you want to eat pub grub, but this place is our favourite in the village, a very high-quality excellent fish and seafood restaurant run by a husband-and-wife team. Be warned: it's hardcore fish and seafood, and indeed doesn't do anything without scales or shell, so be sure to check that all of your party are happy with that. If they are, you're in for a treat: arguably this is one of the best places to eat fish this side of Norwich, with a blackboard menu featuring changing specials like Brancaster or Morston mussels, Cromer crabs and local lobsters, and fantastic locally smoked salmon. It’s not a cheap place to eat (and, hey, although they do fish, they don’t do chips), but prices are moderate and it’s surely of the best places to eat for miles around. They also have decent wine list (including a number of English varieties, and the service is always first-class.
