Ranworth Broad
Ranworth NR13 6HY
At the heart of the northern Broads, Ranworth Broad is closed off to boat traffic and run by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, but it’s one of the best places to learn about The Broads, with a great thatched visitor centre built out over the water that’s accessible by way of a pretty boardwalk path. You used to be able to get here by regular boat from the staithe on adjacent Malthouse Broad; now it’s just a short walk from the village in one direction, or the church in the other. Regular guided walk and boat trips take in both a boat trip the broad itself and a walk in the surrounding landscape, and in fact joining one is the only way to get out onto the water.
