Rose & Crown Restaurant
Old Church Road Snettisham Norfolk PE31 7LX
This lovely old inn is not only a nice place to stay, with sixteen very comfortable guest rooms, but it also serves great food. It's not the only place to do that along this coast, of course, but it's a cosy and historic old pub, with open fires and low-beamed rooms and basically does what all good gastropubs should do by offering a combination of well-cooked and presented pub classics with more adventurous dishes, making the most of the abundant produce of the local region – fish and seafood from King’s Lynn and Brancaster, meat and game from local estates. It's not just for foodies; they serve a good children’s menu, and you can sample the same food in the restaurant or any of the three cost, wooden-beamed bars (one of which is dog-friendly), or outside in the lovely walled garden, which has its own wooden play ship. Their breakfast also attracts non-residents who want to fuel up before walking or cycling, and they serve tea, coffee and excellent cakes all day. The same people also run the excellent Bank House Hotel in King’s Lynn, which has a great, slightly posher but similarly relaxed restaurant.
