This wonderful Norfolk boutique hotel ticks a lot of boxes. It's in a beautiful location, midway between the North Norfolk Coast hotspots of Brancaster Beach and Burnham Market, a lovely flint-and-white Georgian mansion whose owners seem to have thought of every detail to make your stay more comfortable. The rooms are luxurious and well-equipped, with indulgent bathrooms and contemporary yet cosy furnishings; and if you have a large party and something special to celebrate, you can have the place all to yourself if that's what you prefer. Perhaps best of all is the attention to detail throughout, which makes staying here such a pleasure, from the books and homely touches that greet you at every turn to the soothing colour palettes of each guest room and the warm reception you get from the friendly team when you arrive.

The White House's 12 rooms (11 spacious doubles, 1 duplex suite) are an almost perfect blend of traditional comfort and modern amenities. Each is different – some have high, vaulted ceilings, some have views over the gardens, others the countryside or tennis court, while a couple are large enough to accommodate a family. But they all come with super-king-size or king-size, ultra-comfy Hypnos beds with silk duvets and goose down or allergy-free pillows, Sky and Google Chrome TVs and Roberts radios, super-fast WiFi, tea- and coffee-making facilities with nice teabags and Nespresso machines, and bathrooms that are right up-to-date, with underfloor heating and lovely 100 Acres toiletries. Most have spacious walk-in showers and a few have baths with showers (the suite has a free-standing bath in the room and a separate shower). Two of their bedrooms are dog-friendly, and you're very much left alone if that's what you want – but on the other hand, the friendly team is always on hand to provide advice and ideas on what to do in this beautiful part of Norfolk. And believe us, there's lots.

Though to be honest, the White House is so alluring you may not want to go far: there's a sitting room to relax in with squashy sofas, an honesty bar, and they have their own tennis court and gorgeous walled gardens. Food-wise, there's Acre at The White House to enjoy, serving French-inspired evening meals Thursday-Saturday and 'classics suppers' Sunday-Wednesday. To drink? They have their own vineyard that produces award-winning wine: Hawker’s Hill Pinot Noir, Bacchus and Solaris. Breakfasts are delicious, served in the same, sunny, garden-facing room, and usually include fresh muffins, made daily (there's also generally lots of delicious homemade cakes and biscuits around for guests to snack on). It's worth knowing they run 'Big Sky Art' courses for budding creatives keen to capture the stunning surroundings on canvas. When it comes to pets, they provide a dog welcome basket with treats, a towel, water bowl and poo bags, and nearby Brancaster Beach is pooch-friendly, so your animal companion can run free for absolutely miles. All in all, it's the perfect spot for a tranquil weekend break on the North Norfolk Coast.

Facilities

As soon as you enter you are met with an air of calm. The lush reception rooms have rich colours, sumptuous velvet sofas, specially commissioned work by Norfolk artists and light streaming in through huge windows.  Whether you book a room for the night or gather your friends and family and book a bespoke house party, the house is yours to enjoy. Light the fire or fling the doors open and head out to the walled garden, pour yourself a drink, put your feet up and unwind.

Remote and tranquil, but accessible, we offer Universal Charging Points through the Monta all-in-one EV App, and the wifi is fast and free. Traditional comfort combines seamlessly with modern convenience at The White House.

Suitable For

Each tranquil bedroom is individually decorated and has Nespresso coffee, Teapigs Teas and fresh milk. The bathrooms, many with freestanding baths, and all with rain showers are stocked with the divine English made 100 Acres products made in England with natural essential oils. Wake up, turn on your Roberts Radio if you can bear to let the wide world in to your retreat, and curl up in your crisp white sheets with a fresh, hot cup of tea and look out on to the gently surrounding countryside.
We genuinely love all our rooms, from the straight up romance of the Turret Room (5) to the privacy and peace of the galleried top rooms (10 and 11) and our family room - set up to work for parents and children after years of family travel - total comfort for everyone, cosiness and convenience (9). Not forgetting our wonderful suite with a downstairs sitting room and huge, galleried bedroom upstairs, complete with freestanding bath - the suite (12) is perfect for a romantic break - just the two of you or treat your dog to a beach break - it also works well for a family retreat.

Nearby

North Norfolk offers space, freedom and miles of beaches for children and dogs especially to run free. In our opinion, there is nothing that works better for finding headspace in a frantic world than a long walk along the North Norfolk Coast. Even on a wild winters day, it is somehow restorative - and on the busiest summer holiday day, there remains a corner of private space to be found on the vast beaches and dunes of Thornham, Brancaster and Titchwell.

Our restaurant, Acre at the White House, is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and we offer a 'White House Classics’ menu the rest of the week at 7pm.
