The Quarter and Stonegate

Swinegate, Grape Lane, Back Swinegate and Little Stonegate, York

The Quarter refers to the lovely tangle of medieval streets that form the heart of York’s commercial centre – Swinegate, Grape Lane, Back Swinegate and Little Stonegate, which leads onto the main thoroughfare, Stonegate. Shops here are very twee and tourist-centric but there are some worthwhile independent boutiques dotted about, as well as plenty of quirky eating and drinking spots.
