A cosy contemporary B&B in a classic Victorian townhouse less than 10 minutes walk from York Minster
A classic Victorian-era townhouse guesthouse, set back from the river in the traditional streets behind the Museum Gardens. They’ve been doing B&B here for years and have it down to a fine art, with a succession of cosy rooms in a light, country style. The superkings are more newly decorated, with good bathrooms, while a spacious family room offers the chance to spread out a bit. Or for a special occasion, there’s a bit of romance in the large four-poster room with its pretty, tiled, walk-in shower and antique chaise-longue.
Everyone enjoys the breakfasts and the location really is excellent for a reasonably priced stay in York city centre – five minutes to the art gallery, under ten to the Minster, or just a short stroll down to the river for a delightful waterside walk. And as they know the city well, they have plenty of pub and restaurant recommendations for you.
