Great location, decent rooms and parking – you don’t usually get all three in central York, so the Minster is a bit of a winner. It’s another city-centre Victorian building that’s had an extension and a facelift, so the forty-odd rooms are shared around main building and courtyard. Décor flits between country-cottage and sober-business, and there’s everything from single to family via four-poster, with a big English breakfast included.
All of which is fine and dandy and doesn’t startle the horses. But if you’re driving in, not only is it a cinch to find, you can leave your car in their private car park (on a first-come-first-served basis). And we can’t tell you how gratifying that is. What’s more, walk out of the door and you are five minutes’ from Museum Gardens or the Minster and a few more to Betty’s and the river – so this really is a terrific location for anyone with York on their SatNav and sightseeing on their mind.
