The Cherwell Boathouse is one of those ‘best kept secrets’ type places, off the beaten track. It’s where the locals go to hire a punt – well away from the tourist hot spots – and there’s great food that you can either consume inside or on the terrace overlooking the river. A favourite itinerary is to get a punt here, speed north (upstream) to the Vicky Arms, have lunch, and come back down here for a quick Pimms before home.
