Right in the heart of Oxford's historic centre, it would be hard to find a more ideal location than this large luxury property, just a short walk from all of the city's main attractions. Placed at one end of a quiet and enclosed courtyard garden, Cloisters comfortably sleeps 8 people in four large suites, and is offered as a self-catering property, but if you want to be truly pampered they also offer a 'concierge service', which includes a private chef, waiting staff and daily housekeeping. All told, it makes a perfect base for visiting central Oxford while enjoying your very own secluded, luxurious city bolthole. It also has a sister property across the courtyard, the smaller, two-double-suite Masters Lodgings, which can be booked separately or together with the Cloisters if you have an especially large group.

Cloisters comfortably sleeps 8 people in 4 spacious bedroom suites, and like its sister property boasts hand-made super-king-size beds with Vi-Spring mattresses and huge, very sleek porcelain and natural stone en-suite bathrooms with freestanding baths and monsoon showers. Two suites overlook the garden, while the other two face Oxford Castle, which is illuminated at night. There's a large downstairs sitting room with a large-screen TV with French doors opening onto the garden, wifi and Sonos sound throughout, and a superb modern luxury kitchen with double ovens, coffee machine wine fridge, three sinks with boiling taps and a dedicated breakfast zone. Once again, the shared courtyard garden is a welcome and very secluded spot to escape the hubbub of central Oxford, and there's a large table and chairs for al fresco dining. All in all, it's no surprise that it's recently been awarded a 5 Star Gold rating by Visit England.

The Cloisters is well-named, and it would be hard to find a more peaceful spot in central Oxford than its secluded courtyard garden. But it's nice also to know that right outside your door the splendour of Oxford's historic centre is waiting. And if you tire of city life, never fear – the charming small town of Woodstock and the grandeur of Blenheim Palace, not to mention the rolling hills and villages of the Cotswolds, are all just a short drive or bus ride away.
