The Townhouse Stratford
16 Church Street Stratford-Upon-Avon Warwickshire CV37 6HB
Bang in the centre of town, The Townhouse Stratford is our kind of restaurant, not only with a convivial bar in which you can just stop by for a drink, but also serving good quality food at prices most people can afford, in an environment which is relaxed but has a touch of style too. The bar at the front has a fabulous pewter counter and an easy flow through to the restaurant, which is always busy and serves a great-value modern British menu that utilises local locally sourced produce including fabulous steaks from nearby Todeham Manor Farm, classic pub grub like fish-and-chips and an excellent burger as well as half a dozen starters and main courses that change regularly – think ham hock terrine followed by grilled hake, or beetroot and goat's cheese salad followed by slow-cooked ox cheeks. They also offer a brilliant pre-theatre set menu, which is handy given the RSC theatre is just around the corner. Finally they sometimes have live music in the bar, provided by piano students from the nearby King Edward VI School, making it a great place for an early evening tipple, as well as regular live music on Sundays, and the rooms upstairs are lovely, should you decide to stay longer.
