A Grade II-listed Manor House set deep in the Warwickshire countryside yet not far from Stratford-upon-Avon, Talton House is the perfect holiday haven for large groups of friends and families. It's a Queen-Anne style mansion, set amid 34 acres of woodland, fields, manicured gardens and lawns, and makes for a luxurious but relaxed getaway, oozing charm and history and providing an opportunity to pretend that you really are 'to the manor born' – if only for a few days! Yet it's different from many country houses in several respects, with lots of fun and frivolous touches throughout, and a converted barn and a variety of glamping accommodation in the adjoining gardens adding a cool festival vibe to the aristocratic atmosphere of the manor. If you’re looking for a relaxed venue for a memorable gathering, party or reunion – or even a corporate getaway – Talton House may be exactly what you are after.

Talton House  was one of the owners' childhood home and one of the most charming things about it is the amount of family history throughout - there are portraits of her mother (a former racing car driver who raced against Steve McQueen),  not to mention various racy and brainy ancestors from years before. The house sleeps up to 23 guests in nine individually decorated bedrooms, each of which offers something unique. Downstairs, a large and very handsome entrance hall gives any to an elegant dining room with seating for up to 14 people, plus a bright and spacious sitting room and a smaller snug, and a well-equipped country kitchen with an Aga and all the facilities you need. There's also a games room with a pool table and other games for rainy days, and a bar with its own seating area. The ground floor also has an accessible bedroom and bathroom and the house comes equipped with Smart TVs, good WiFi and a Cambridge Audio Bluetooth speaker system. And if you have a couple of extra guests, book the Courtyard Room as an optional extra room. Accessible via a private external stairwell, it can be made up as a super-king or two singles and has an en-suite.

And that's just the house. Outside, there's an outdoor table tennis table, boules and mini croquet and an outdoor space where kids can run around the grounds to their heart's content, giving the gatherings, parties, anniversaries and reunions that they host at Talton Lodge a relaxed, family vibe. They offer a handful of activities too, from treasure hunts and sausage-making to beauty therapy and pottery classes, plus there's an astroturf tennis court if you're feeling really energetic and a natural (unheated) swimming pool nearby, with crystal clear water. You may want to opt for a spot of in-house catering too: Olivia trained as a chef under Gary Rhodes and Margot Henderson and dishes up delicious three-course dinners on demand.

You may find there's plenty to keep you occupied on the estate, but for those eager to explore the surrounding area, the village is a short walk away and has shops and a couple of pubs; a short drive to the north is Stratford-upon-Avon while to the south the small and appealing town of Shipston-on-Stour is similarly close. You're also well-positioned for seeing some of the northern reaches of the Cotswolds around Chipping Camden and Broadway.

Amazing food and friendly team

Had a fantastic couple of days corporate away day with a group of ~25 people. We used the projector and flipcharts for a couple of sessions and these were provided no problem for us and worked perfectly well. The team looking after us was jovial and nothing seemed too much trouble when we had questions or needed some encouragement in the morning whilst a little 'tired' from the drinks the night before. The food was outstanding and certainly much better than other similar locations I've been - fresh, healthy and delicious. Minor improvement: I'd have loved the ability to sort our own cups of tea and coffee out during ad-hoc breaks that we took.

Perfect venue for 60th Birthday celebration!

Spent a fantastic 3 days with 26 friends and family members celebrating my 60th birthday. We were very comfortably accommodated in the gorgeous house with its 10 bedrooms, Courtyard room, the Lodge Barn and the Boathouse and, despite the freezing weather the wood burners kept us nice and toasty. Olivia and Barney were wonderful hosts. Olivia's culinary skills were excellent - I highly recommend the Posh Mexican takeaway - and we were served up a real winter feast for my birthday dinner on the Saturday in the splendid inner hall. It was truly amazing. The house is located within beautiful grounds and is perfect for exploring the countryside and local pubs. The local Purity brew in the bar and the dressing-up cupboards all added to the enjoyment of a weekend which surpassed all expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Highly recommend!

We had an amazing company off-site at Talton House. It's a beautiful location, with great facilities and a very friendly welcome. Talton has it all, including beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces for workshops, projectors, flipboards; indoor and outdoor dining (delicious food including for those with dietary requirements!); bar, drink (nice cocktails!) and party facilities; beautiful grounds, croquette lawn, countryside; games room, tennis courts and other activities; and enough room to cater for large groups.

Another exceptional family weekend at Talton House

This was our second big family stay at Talton, with 31 of us in the house and barn. It was my husband's 80th birthday and he chose this as the place he'd most like to come back to for a celebratory family get-together. It worked perfectly despite rain and flooded roads (in fact we rather hoped the weather would get worse so we'd be unable to leave!). The house offers so much for all ages - smaller children loved the rocking horse, the dolls' house and other toys and all the space inside and out, but could also sit and watch films quietly at the end of the day; the teens and young adults had a great time in the games room and the hot tub; family members of all ages joined in a dressing up parade in the big hall as a prelude to the birthday tea (plenty of clothes, hats and wigs in the dressing up cupboard). We had some epic food, not least the very high quality catered meal provided by Olivia and her team - there was particular praise from all the family vegetarians for the large number of veggie options as well as willingness to cater for a vegan diet - but the carnivores had delicious slow roasted pork and lamb to enjoy. Both the living rooms and bedrooms are very comfortable and attractive, with interesting decor and family memorabilia. Talton just feels like a lovely old family home, which is exactly what it is. It wasn't the weather for a lot of outdoor activity but the grounds were full of snowdrops and there are enjoyable walks straight from the house (maps provided). It was such a pleasure to be able to stay at Talton again and we hope we'll be able to return soon. Very highly recommended!
