This old Cotswolds stone inn is steeped in history – it is even said that Charles II stayed here during the Civil War – and is situated in one of the most picturesque villages in the Cotswolds. But it has been considerably updated over the years and now shares ownership with its sister property across the road, Cotswold House, which makes it one of the few pubs in this book where you can enjoy the benefits of a steam room or a massage. Not only that, its 28 rooms are comfortably furnished and well equipped; bathrooms are serviceable and come with White Company toiletries, while all of them are dog-friendly and a couple come with 4-posters. You can eat in the bar or the more formal restaurant downstairs, and the food is high quality and locally sourced, although what the Noel Arms is really known for is its authentic Sri Lankan food, with chef Indunil Sanchi named Best Curry Chef at the Great British Pub awards on 3 occasions; his monthly Curry Nights are hugely popular, in particular, because of his Black Lamb curry signature dish.
