It's hard to fault this Cotswold stalwart, a gracious town centre hotel situated in the centre of Chipping Camden, which of all the towns in the Cotswolds, is perhaps the most alluring, its huddle of ancient stone buildings twinkling in the depths of a winter night. The hotel's immaculate modern interior is tucked away behind a Regency town house and its immediate neighbours. The service is impeccable, rooms almost entirely refurbished and stylish and contemporary, with dimmed lights and wide bedheads, and to the rear the gardens are kept in immaculate condition. Plus the restaurant is one of the best in the area.
There are only fifteen rooms so the overall feeling is one of a small boutique hotel; but the facilities, which include a lovely small pool and an award-winning spa too, with a hydrotherapy pool and a hammam, are of five-star quality. It's the perfect romantic escape, especially if you can afford to upgrade to one of their 'hot tub suites'.
