Edinburgh-born head chef and owner Roy Brett used to run Rick Stein's restaurants in Padstow while the main man was off making TV and writing books. His 2009 opening in a new-build in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town was an instant hit, showcasing fantastic seafood from oyster platters to crustacean platters, with MSC-certified sustainable fish ambitiously and passionately to the fore. It is essentially a fairly smart place to dine, but you can also pull up a stool at the bar and tuck into oysters and other snacks. The epic shellfish platter - choose to go classic French on ice or decadently roasted - is the stuff of local legend overflowing with lobster, crab, razor clams, surf clams, mussels, scallops and oysters. This is quite simply one of the finest places in the UK to savour seafood.
