Leith Shore
Leith, Edinburgh.
Leith, the port of Edinburgh, has a mixed reputation, with historic rough edges to its higher profile designer flats and smart restaurants. The Shore is a little further from the sea than its name suggests, being set on the banks of the Water of Leith but separated from the Firth of Forth by working docks. It's here, however, that you'll find various historic buildings, cobbled quays, assorted boats and bits of industrial heritage. A wander around gives a good flavour of the place, as well as a chance to view the menus of the restaurants which crowd it, including three Michelin-starred venues: Restaurant Martin Wishart, The Kitchin and Plumed Horse – all within a few hundred yards of each other.
