National Gallery of Scotland
The Mound Edinburgh EH2 2EL
It's nothing like the size of its London equivalent, which actually makes this National Gallery more manageable: a couple of hours wondering through the rooms of William Playfair's temple-style building will allow you time to take in just about the entire collection on show at any time, including Old Dutch and Venetian masters, French Impressionists and pre- 20th century British art. Works to look out for include Canova's 19th century sculpture, The Three Graces, a Rembrandt self-portrait and some superb paintings by Titian.
