The Scottish Parliament
Horse Wynd Edinburgh EH99 1SP
Enric Miralles' enigmatic collection of buildings designed a decade ago to house Scotland's devolved parliament divides opinion: it’s an expensive aberration to some, while to others it's an architectural intrigue which gets better the closer up you get. You can pay a brief visit to the main foyer and get a sense of the structure, but it's well worth taking one of the hour-long, in-depth tours. To see the debating chamber in action, it's best to pre-book through the website. For the best overview of the building as a whole, wander up the Radical Road path in Holyrood Park.
