Vinyasa
34 St Mary's St Edinburgh EH1 1SX
Many of Edinburgh’s Indian restaurants are like
a 1970s timewarp, but this bright, creative gem, just off Edinburgh’s famous
Royal Mile, is a welcome addition. Here all the old classics are on the menu,
such as vindaloos and kormas, but even these are given a little
tweak. The tandoori comes with sautéed onions and peppers, and the ‘Vinyasa Special
Murgh’ is a delight, chicken barbecued on the bone then pulled off and cooked
in a mildly spicy sauce. The Monday Curry Club is worth checking out too, with three
courses for under £15. The dining room is as bright and airy as the
staff, in an Indian restaurant that deliberately steers far from the all the usual curry house clichés. Decent value too.
